“I don’t try and worry about things I can’t control. Going into a game I don’t worry about 50,000 fans screaming or booing me. One thing only and one thing only, get three guys out.” – Mariano Rivera
It is important for an athlete to eliminate mental congestion during a performance because by worrying about things out of their control will only serve to distract us. The only thing important to focus on while performing is the task at hand in that moment in time because it is the one thing an athlete is able to control.
Are you having trouble staying “in the moment” during a performance? If so please visit the Mental Toughness Network. www.mentaltoughnessnetwork.com.
